A cabin boat that changes with the day
The Sport Coupé 42 is a fast, spacious cabin boat built for long-distance transport in high comfort, right through the year. What marks it out is how readily it changes from closed to open.
Slide back the side doors, the aft door and the roof hatches and the saloon fills with air and light. Close it all down and it keeps you warm and sheltered through rain and cold, whether that is the daily run or a family holiday.
All of it rests on generations of experience, made stronger by modern technology.
Experience the Sport Coupé 42: a virtual 360° tour with the twin Volvo Penta inboard, showing the saloon open from closed to open.
The Sport Coupé 42 is a multifunctional cabin boat that fits several markets with different needs. Regardless of the market, high speed, protected comfort and good seakeeping are valued. If the boat is used on the Norwegian west coast, around the Mediterranean or on the North American east coast, the needs look different underway and at the destination. We see a clear advantage in a boat with naturally high flexibility and more uses than a boat built for transport alone.

A flexible saloon at the heart of the boat
The Sport Coupé 42 carries up to nine people forward-facing, fast and protected, in any weather. The heart of the boat is the saloon, spacious and full of light, with seating that adjusts to what you are doing. Nine seats facing the direction of travel for a fast passage.
A dinette for lunch. A large U-sofa for an evening together. The two sofas fold and move on simple handles, and the table raises, lowers, rotates and folds, so one space does the work of several. Storage sits close to hand throughout, and panoramic windows give a near 360° view from inside.
New for the 42 series, the deck saloon gains a galley up at deck level, so cooking happens in the light with everyone around rather than tucked below. A convertible saloon sofa adds a berth when the day runs late, and blackout curtains close the space down for sleep or shade.
Open the side doors, slide back the aft door and the roof hatches, and the saloon becomes an open boat. Ceiling height and daylight do the rest.
The helm seats two in the snug Nimbus manner, with storage close by, and you can stand or sit to drive. The dashboard takes two 12-inch plotters. New custom Nimbus helm seats, shaped for lateral support, take the fatigue out of a long passage, and joystick steering is available.
Wide passages, room to move
Like the Sport Tender 42, the Sport Coupé 42 gives you a wide walk-around with generous deck space and passageways that let people move freely around the boat. It carries the award-winning walk-around of the Sport Cruiser 42 series: the wide sliding doors let two people pass in the doorway without crowding, and boarding, disembarking, loading and unloading are all straightforward.
The aft deck has been redesigned for the 42 series, with more usable space, a folding backrest on the aft sofa, and new seating with side cushions along the sides. It works as a load surface, with a folding bench and fender holders, and an easily accessible 2,500-litre stowage space for gear, tools and luggage. An extra helm with plotter and joystick is available on the starboard aft deck.
The swim platform is new, extended, with double-mould construction that is structurally integrated with the hull. On outboard boats an optional hydraulic platform lowers to bring you closer to the water and doubles as a passerelle when moored. A new aft deck shower rinses off the salt after a swim. Along the deck, a new 40mm stainless steel railing and the polished chrome Nimbus hull logo mark the 42 series.
The foredeck has room for a divan and a sun bed, with a large cargo hatch through to the forward cabin. The wide gunwales make it a seating and gathering space of its own.
Below deck, two separate cabins sleep two couples or a family of four, and a spacious head holds a toilet and shower with proper headroom. Improved ventilation and sound insulation keep the cabins fresh and quiet, underway and at anchor. The vacuum-infused Divinycell hull insulates against cold and heat, so the inverter-powered air conditioning holds the cabin comfortable right through an overnight stay.
The Sport Coupé 42 is prepared for a diesel generator, gyroscopic stabilisation, joystick steering, roof racks, solar panels and more.
Dynamic
Positioning System
The option for when the driver wants to hold the boat’s heading and position for a moment, when preparing for docking, waiting to refuel, or waiting for a bridge or lock to open.
When docking, the crew gets time to prepare fenders and lines with no stress. It also gives the driver time to plan a change of route safely, or to hold position in deep water.
Repositioning lets you move and rotate the boat with a tap of the joystick while still in DPS mode, useful for slight adjustments when wind and current make manual operation difficult.
To engage the Dynamic Positioning System, the driver presses a button on the joystick control, and the boat’s position and heading are held within a very limited area. Moving the control levers, or pressing the button again, disengages the system.
Joystick Docking
Joystick Docking makes docking easy and safe. The driver pushes or rotates the joystick in the direction they want and the boat follows: forward, reverse, sideways, or spinning on its own axis. It is simple and logical, and every manoeuvre is intuitive.
Sophisticated software in the Electronic Vessel Control (EVC) system turns the driver’s joystick movements into steering angles, gearshifts and throttle positions for intuitive control at low and high speeds.
Easier maneuvering
Low-speed Mode puts full focus on operating and gives the driver more time for manoeuvres and corrections. Full drivability and increased control at reduced speed make docking and working in tight spaces less stressful. It also helps when fishing or moving through inland waterways.
Our ambition was to create a multifunctional contemporary cabin boat that feels natural to use for fishing, swimming, socialising or a holiday. It should be just as useful in the sun as for transport in rain and cold. Usually a boat like this protects you from the weather and wind. The Sport Coupé 42’s saloon opens up in fine weather and lets everyone onboard take in the light. If there is too much sun, you fold out the sun protection or start the air conditioning.

Our ambition has been to create a multifunctional contemporary Commuter that feels natural to use for several activities such as fishing, swimming, socializing or vacation. It should be just as useful for social contexts in the sun as for transport in rain and cold. Normally we protect against the weather and wind, but the C11's saloon can easily be opened in sunny weather and let in the sun to let everyone on board take in and enjoy the light. If there is too much sun, you simply fold out the sun protection or start the air conditioning.
